Horse Boarding and Vacations

Recently I learned there is a whole new industry in tourism that I had never heard of before. This is basically bed and breakfast for both horse owners and horses. One place that once offered this kind of service was the White Pine Inn in Washington state. I don't think it is in business anymore, but when it was, it would board both a couple and their horses in a beautiful setting surrounded by many horse trails. This sounds like a real fun vacation idea if you own a horse, which I don't currently. However, I did when I was a child, and I can certainly see the attraction of such places!

Organic Soaps

I love the scent and feel of homemade soaps. If you have never tried a bar of handmade, organic soap, well, you are missing out - that's all you can say. Handmade soaps are much better for your skin and organic handmade soaps are even better all around. There are some great handmade soaps out there try, including such exotic scents as sage citrus and bay laurel.

If you are going to purchase some beautiful organic hand made soap, you should also consider getting a wooden soap dish to go with it, as there is nothing more beautiful than hand made soap sitting in a handmade wooden soap dish! I was pretty surprised to learn that you can actually get some great handcrafted soaps from places like Amazon.com, although I prefer to purchase mine at craft fairs and specialty shops. Anyway, if you haven't ever tried handmade soap, consider getting some today. You won't be sorry!

Gardening Again

Well, a few days ago I finally pulled the black tarp off of my community garden plot, shoveled in a couple wheelbarrows of organic manure, and started seeds and seedlings in my community plot. My rhubarb plant from last year was going crazy, so I harvested a bunch of stalks from it as well which my husband used to make yummy rhubarb crumble.

Can't wait until the lettuce and radishes are ready - I'm craving some GOOD quality salads again, plus collards, chard, broccoli and tons of other goodness. I love to garden!

Should You Write an Ebook?

Lately there has been a lot of buzz about electronic books. Ebooks have many advantages over traditional books: they don't kill trees, they can be published quickly and they can be distributed instantly with the click of a button saving fuel and costs associated with distribution of traditional books. Some will complain that despite these advantages, ebooks are missing the aesthetic qualities of traditional hand held books and will never become truly popular because of this.

However, recent innovations in ebook readers are starting to challenge even this. Increasingly electronic readers are looking more and more like traditional books. It is probably for these reasons that the number of ebooks in circulation has skyrocked in recent years. There are literally millions of electronic books now in circulation, with more being published every day!

If you are interested in catching this wave and writing and publishing your own ebook, there is a lot you will need to learn about how to create, compile, distribute and market your ebook effectively. To start, you will need to decide what kind of ebook publishing software you will use to write and compile your book into an appropriate electronic format. You may also want to read some books on how to write ebooks effectively. However, when compared to traditional book writing and publication, you should find the entire process much easier and quicker to master.

Raw Vegan Diet: Giving It a Try

I've been feeling kind of out of it lately, and the doctor doesn't seem to be able to find anything that's wrong. However, a good friend of mine suggested I give a raw vegan diet a try, so I'm going that route right now. I found a great one online that has TONS of resources: Eating for Energy. The complete package has tons of useful recipes and meal plans, which is good because I've never tried eating raw before and it looks like there is a lot of new techniques to learn.

The good thing is that after only a week at it, I'm feeling GREAT! Really, no jokes here. I'm surprised at how quickly I noticed a change in my energy level. I'm still getting used to the food preparation, however, and the new tastes and textures of many of the raw food diet recipes I'm trying. But all in all, this has been a great experience and one I would recommend everyone try at least once to see how it works for them!
