Backpack Vacuum Cleaners

I recently went shopping for a new vacuum cleaner, and was surprised by the variety of types available. One of the most interesting models I saw, was one of the new type of backpack vacuum cleaners that are now on the market.

If you are like me, you may have never considered purchasing a backpack vacuum cleaner before. After all, my parents had an upright vacuum, I've always used an upright vacuum, what more is there to want? Well, I have to say I was quite impressed by the backpack type.

First of all, I thought back pack vacuums might be very heavy, but I was really wrong. The model I tried on weighed less than 10 pounds (the ProTeam Sierra model). I could hardly even tell it was on! Next, I was amazed at the filtration system on this machine. I also thought that backpack vacuum cleaners might be bulky and difficult to move about in - wrong again!

I can easily see the benefits of these types of vacuums. They would make vacuuming the stairs in my home a breeze, I could walk outside to the car with one on and vacuum it as well, and easily reach into cupboards, closets, under couches, and not have to worry about tight corners either. This is definitely an item that is going on my holiday wish list!

Nursery Rocking Chairs

If you are pregnant, one item you should definitely consider adding to your nursery to-buy list is a nursery rocking chair. There are so many benefits to nursery rocking chairs for mothers to be and new mothers. Of course, we all know how rocking a baby is important to helping soothe and get your baby to sleep. This is easily done in a rocking chair, or when the baby is still young you can also use a bassinet that rocks as well.

Not only will a rocking chair help calm the baby, it will help calm you too. This is why you often find rocking chairs in birthing suites at hospital, as they are a great place to ride out the early stages of labor. Nursery rocking chairs can also help you lose some of the pregnancy weight after the birth, since using one burns about 150 calories an hour!

So if you, or someone you know and love, is pregnant you should seriously consider adding a beautiful rocking chair to your baby's nursery. They make wonderful gifts and will likely become cherished family heirlooms as well.

Chair Lifts are Great for the Elderly

Do you have a person you love who has difficulty moving up and down stairs? If so, you should be concerned about this since falls are a leading cause of death among the elderly. Stairs present both a risk and an unwanted challenge to those with mobility challenges. You want to help a person you love be able to move up and down the stairs safely? If so, consider looking at chair lifts for stairs models for your home.

There are a wide variety of handicap stair lift models available. If the person you love has trouble bending at the knees and getting in and out of stairs, you should consider getting a wheel chair stair lift instead of a chair lift for stairs. They work pretty much the same way as a stair chair, but the person will not have to get in and out of their wheelchair. Instead, they can just roll the wheel chair aboard the stair lift.

Prices for all types of chair lifts for stairs have been declining in recent years as more manufacturers enter into the marketplace. That said, you will pay a lot more for a chair lift that is installed on a curved staircase than one on a straight staircase. Still, chair lifts for stairs are generally a much cheaper option than installing a home elevator. Do some comparison shopping and you are certain to find some great selections.
